The French club is very confident of signing the Brazilian that they have even started to prepare for the unveiling of the player. The deal is set to be for a world record fee of £197m, which was the release fee listed for the player.
The forward is set to sign a five year deal with the club, which is all agreed apart from a signature after the player stormed out of training after a spat with the clubs new signing. The French club is set to unveil the player with a big stunt, similar to that of which the club revealed Zlatan Ibrahimovic a few years back. The player was in China on Monday due to a sponsorship deal and could fly from there to Qatar to meet the clubs owners, who have been trying to seal a deal for the player for the last two weeks.
The 25-year-old is set to make £26m a year, meaning that if PSG have any chance of keeping to financial fair play they will need to offload a few players. One of these that club might be willing to sell is Angel Di Maria who would fetch around £45m, they could also consider selling Serge Aurier and Blaise Matuidi, which the club could get £40m for the pair and most importantly get their big wages of their books.
The Catalan club isn’t too pleased with the transfer and said that they might make a formal complaint to UEFA over financial fair play after they believe that the owners and not the club will be paying the whole transfer fee. The player has made over 40 appearances every season since he’s arrived at Barcelona so it’ll be interesting to see where the club will fill the gap and whether they’ll try and use the money that they’ve earned from the transfer to splash on a new striker.
