With the first legs of all the Champions League Round of 16 games just around the corner we thought we would help you out with your football bets and predict which team will come out on top in the first leg:
Real Madrid Vs PSG
This game is a battle of epic proportions with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid coming up against Neymar’s PSG. Ronaldo averages a goal every 84 minutes in European competitions for Real Madrid so it’s pretty likely he’s going to net a goal, or two. Neymar has 6 goals in 6 CL games for PSG this season so again, it’s likely he’s going to find the back of the net too. With all of the attacking quality on display it’s likely to be a high scoring game, with Real Madrid being at home they’ll come out on top.
Prediction: 3-2 to Real Madrid
Chelsea Vs Barcelona
Chelsea & Barcelona have bad blood between them in the Champions League. Questionable refereeing decisions and unlikely winners usually decide the contests between these two teams. Barcelona are sitting pretty at the top of La Liga and Chelsea are going through Conte’s first rough patch. With the tie being at Stamford Bridge I can see Chelsea keeping it respectable but Barcelona should win this one.
Prediction: 1-0 to Barcelona
Juventus Vs Tottenham
Since the revival of Juventus, they have always seemed to fair pretty well in the CL and Tottenham made Dortmund and Real Madrid look a bit silly in their group so this should be a good game. Both teams are scoring lots of goals, however, Juventus European pedigree should be enough to see them through this game, especially at home.
Prediction: 2-1 to Juventus
Porto Vs Liverpool
Porto might be flying in the Portuguese Primera Liga but most Sunday league teams could hold their own in Portugal. Liverpool’s obvious attacking threat will be too much for them to handle, I expect Porto to score as they too aren’t terrible going forward and Liverpool’s rear-guard leaves a lot to be desired but Liverpool will come out on top at the Dragao.
Prediction: 2-1 to Liverpool
Manchester City Vs FC Basel
All-conquering Manchester City take on the minnows of the group stage in FC Basel and there will only be one outcome here. City are flying and Basel aren’t (only 2nd in the Swiss Super League). They will do well not to be on the receiving end of a hiding. Even still, I think 4-0 would be respectable for the Swiss champions here and I predict that’s what will happen.
Prediction: 4-0 to Manchester City
Bayern Munich Vs Besiktas
Besiktas are playing pretty well lately having found their rhythm however Bayern will just be too strong for them. With Bayern at the Allianz, it’s always a difficult proposition and they’d like to get a couple of goals to take to Turkey.
Prediction: 2-0 to Bayern Munich
Manchester United Vs Sevilla
Manchester United will be fuming after the result against Tottenham and their fans will be fuming with the prices Sevilla have hiked their tickets up to. Expect a Manchester United team led by Alexis, Pogba etc. to try to overpower Sevilla but the two-time Europa League winners won’t go down without a fight and I sense an early goal from the visitors before United wake up and just do enough.
Prediction: 2-1 to Manchester United
Shakhtar Donetsk Vs Roma
This is an intriguing tie that genuinely could go either way. Shakhtar are a decent side that did just enough to get through, however, Ukraine is never an easy place to visit. Roma are on a poor run of form with just 5 points from their last 5 games in Serie A. Touted as Serie A winners at the start of the season they currently sit 5th.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw
